James Hubley Named Student Doctor of the Month

James Hubley, of Madisonville, Texas, was named a Student D.O. for the month of December at Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) in Harrogate, Tennessee. Hubley is a first-year osteopathic medical student at LMU-DCOM.

The Student D.O. of the Month is a program of the LMU-DCOM Student Government Association (SGA) and is designed to recognize an outstanding first- and second-year student each month. Among the criteria examined for the honor are involvement in LMU-DCOM, leadership skills, community service, class attendance, initiative, attitude and professionalism. Nominations are made to the SGA and voted on by the officers.

Hubley earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Texas at Austin. Hubley is a member of PSYCH-SIGN, a student interest group in Neurology, and is a member of the Students for a National Health Program (SNaHP). He is an avid volunteer in the Math Docs program, a tutoring program developed by the medical students for local elementary schools. Hubley also volunteers his time to assist senior citizens with computer and technology needs at the Harrogate Senior Center. Previous to LMU-DCOM Hubley worked in homeless services for several years.

Hubley is the son of Grover C. Hubley, Jr., and Janet L. Hubley. He and his wife Ninfa have one child, Cleveland.
